Amour Fou | Jessica Hausner, 2014

Amour Fou | Jessica Hausner, 2014

Summer into Winter. Stuck between nature and home, time passes. The flowers, once vibrant and in full bloom, become sparer, with small berries replacing petals. The walls seem darker in winter. A new view of the same room, where the wallpaper makes way for a painting, a table, and a door painted the same shade of blue as the walls. Her attention to her arrangements stays the same but more of her face is visible. Sad, pensive. Perhaps, masked by bright colours, she always was. Only now an exit has emerged, a way past her husband, an escape from loveless aristocracy and into the forest, where flowers thrive on their own. Freedom.
